Refinished Golf Balls
"Refinished Golf Balls" is the term used to describe reclaimed golf balls that are then reconditioned in order to bring them up to a level where they appear and behave just like new golf balls.

Reclaimed golf balls are balls that have been found either lying abandoned on golf courses, or have been found in lakes (see lake golf balls). They are collected either by employees of golf courses, or contractors who pay a fee to the course in return for any and all golf balls they find on the premises. These are then sold on as used practice balls for use in driving ranges and home practice facilities, or they may enter the refinishing process.

Some Callaway lake golf balls

The refinishing process can be quite complex, depending on the refinishing company carrying out the refurbishment. Some refinishing companies simply coat the balls with a lightweight protective sheen after they have been washed thoroughly. This is a very basic type of 'refinishing' which is not anywhere near the full measure of refurbishment that the leaders in golf ball refinishing insist is the real practice.

Best4Balls.com only stock refinished golf balls which have been fully refinished - we do not cater for any half-measure products. When leading refinishing companies provide refinished golf balls, they have been chemically cleaned, they have had all markings, discolouration, and stainings removed from them using a chemical remover, and the surface of the ball itself is then professionally 'roughed'. This involves a mechanical process that strips a small amount of the outer layer of the ball off, exposing a new layer of surface in the surlyn cover. They are then quality-checked, and balls that are at all damaged are discarded from the supply chain.

The ball is then primed again as it would have been during its' original manufacture, giving it a shiny, smooth surface. It is then re-printed with the manufacturer's markings - both brand name and model - and finally, a protective sheen is glossed over the top of the ball.

Refinished golf balls, hence, are professionally re-manufactured golf balls. They behave and look just like new golf balls, but they are usually only around 50%-80% of the retail price of their new equivalents, giving golfers that enjoy these products a real bargain discount off their favourite golf balls.
