Best4Balls.com Golf Guide
Lake Golf Balls
"Lake Golf Balls" is the term used to describe golf balls that have been dredged out of a lake and then professionally cleaned. These are then re-packaged and sold again at a discount price.

The clear advantage of lake balls is this price factor - you can expect discounts of over 50% on their new equivalents - especially good when the fact that most lake golf balls have only been hit 1-2 times is also taken into account!

Lake golf balls are, in terms of performance, almost identical to new golf balls. Sitting in water for periods of less than 3 months does nothing to affect the ball physically, although most lake balls are dredged from lakes at one-monthly intervals so there is no cause for concern in terms of water damage.

Some Callaway lake golf balls
Another common concern about lake golf balls is any damage from previous impacts. Most lake balls have been hit once or twice before during their lifetime. This means that they are almost unharmed. They may have small scratches on the surface, and it is quite common for them to have some surface markings such as printed logos etc, depending on where they come from, but it is very unlikely for them to have any compression damage, for example, due to the fact the majority of them have been barely used.

Due to their nature as used/recycled golf balls, some do perform less well, but most lake golf ball retailers (including Best4Balls.com for example), will have a quality-control system that removes golf balls with such damage from ever being re-sold. These damaged balls are usually destroyed and recycled.

Many retailers of lake golf balls will also grade them. This means that there are different quality levels that balls are categorised into. The terms used in the trade are "Pearl" (mint condition), "Grade A" (small, almost un-noticeable scratches), "Grade B" (small amounts of surface damage), and "Grade C" (noticeable damage on the outer cover and possibly internally".

Because certain retailers need to be sure of the quality of their products is maintained, they will only stock certain grades of lake golf ball. Best4Balls.com stock only "Pearl" grade golf balls. This means that our lake golf balls are of top condition. They will not be scratched or damaged in any way. Our lake golf balls are consistent with the performance of new golf balls, which means you simply get a better deal. Aside from possibly a printed logo or slight discolouration, you get almost new golf balls at a massively lower price.

Don't get lake golf balls confused with refinished golf balls!
